Prairie View A&M plates 6 runs in loss to Florida A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --An explosive offensive output was not enough for Prairie View A&M on Friday. The Panthers tallied six runs, but could not hold the Florida A&M Rattlers at bay, and were defeated 10-6.

Kenneth Haynes (0-3) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (6-23, 2-9) and took the loss. Alejandro Marquez was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 6.2 innings, giving up three runs, all earned, on three hits, with two walks and four strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Prairie View A&M plated two runs when Tyvon Moore left the yard with Ryland Duson aboard.

The Panthers lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 7-2. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Ethan Walker, which tightened the Rattlers lead to 7-3.

Prairie View A&M held the Rattlers off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 7-6 in the seventh. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Florida A&M added three runs to their tally on the way to a 10-6 final.
