Men's Golf to Compete at PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship in West Palm Beach

5/3/2026 5:20:00 PM

Prairie View A&M heads to West Palm Beach, Florida, for its final competition of the season when the Panthers open play Monday at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship at The Park. The 54-hole event, scheduled for May 4-6, gives Prairie View A&M one more chance to build on momentum from an earlier third-place finish at the SWAC Golf Championship.

The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship carries added significance beyond the scoreboard. Created in 1986, the event was designed to spotlight competitive golf programs at underserved and underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions while also helping student-athletes explore career opportunities in the business of golf and beyond. Prairie View A&M will be part of a field that includes Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Florida A&M, North Carolina A&T, and Maryland Eastern Shore.

The format will test depth and consistency over three days. The championship is a 54-hole stroke-play event for both teams and individuals, with each team counting the best four scores from its five-man lineup in every round. That structure places a premium on steady play throughout the roster, especially on a course that can reward patience as much as aggression.

Prairie View A&M enters after placing third at the conference championship in early April, and this week offers an opportunity to measure that progress on a broader stage. Live scoring will be available online.
