Prairie View A&M leads from third inning on in win over Alcorn State

ALCORN, Miss. --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and never trailed from there on the way to an 11-1 victory against the Alcorn State Braves on Friday.

Isaac Herrera (2-1) got the win for Prairie View A&M (11-36, 7-18). The right-hander went six shutout innings, giving up five hits, one walk and striking out seven.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Prairie View A&M got on the board thanks to Ryland Duson's RBI double with two outs.

The Panthers then held the Braves scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Prairie View A&M offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run flyout off the bat of Tyvon Moore, which brought the Panthers lead to 5-0.

Prairie View A&M kept Alcorn State scoreless before building their lead to 6-0 the following inning.

Prairie View A&M kept the Braves scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Panthers scored five runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Jordan Williams, bringing the Prairie View A&M advantage to 11-0. Alcorn State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Panthers still coasted to the 11-1 win.
