TUCSON, Ariz. — The Prairie View A&M volleyball team officially opens its 2026 season this weekend, traveling to Tucson, Arizona, to compete in a challenging three-day tournament at the University of Arizona's McKale Center.

The Lady Panthers will open the season Friday, Aug. 28, against the host Arizona Wildcats at 6 p.m. MST. The matchup marks the first of three contests Prairie View A&M will play over the weekend against a competitive field that also includes UC Santa Barbara and Tarleton State.

Prairie View A&M returns to action following a historic 2025 campaign in which the Lady Panthers captured the first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Regular Season Championship in program history, finishing the season with an 18-12 overall record and a 15-1 mark in conference play.

Head coach Dottie Hampton and the Lady Panthers will look to carry that momentum into the new season as they begin their pursuit of another successful campaign.

Following Friday's opener against Arizona, Prairie View A&M will face UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at 10 a.m. MST before closing tournament play Sunday against Tarleton State at 10 a.m. MST.

The weekend provides the Lady Panthers with an early opportunity to compete against quality opponents and establish the foundation for the 2026 season.
