PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Prairie View A&M University continues its yearlong celebration of 150 Years of Excellence Saturday as the Prairie View A&M Panthers welcome the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks to Panther Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The evening brings together football, tradition and Panther Pride as the university celebrates its historic 150th anniversary, while also recognizing two important communities during Greek Night and Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night.
The 2026 season marks a special moment for Prairie View A&M as the university honors a century and a half of academic excellence, service and achievement. Saturday's game provides another opportunity for the Panther community to celebrate the rich history and enduring legacy of the institution.
On the field, the Panthers return home following last week's road contest at Baylor. Prairie View A&M's defense recorded three interceptions against the Bears, with Malachi Williams, Harrison McKinley and JJ Davis each coming away with an interception.
The Panthers will look to build on those efforts when they face an SFA team making its way to Panther Stadium.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday marks another chapter in the all-time series between Prairie View A&M and Stephen F. Austin. The Lumberjacks hold a 5-1-1 advantage in the series.
Prairie View A&M's last victory over SFA came on Sept. 28, 2013, when the Panthers defeated the Lumberjacks, 56-48.
The early meetings in the series were played at SFA's Homer Bryce Stadium. From 1982 through 1988, SFA won four consecutive meetings, including a 38-3 victory in 1988.
CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
Saturday's match up takes place during Prairie View A&M's historic 150th anniversary celebration, commemorating the university's legacy of excellence and its impact on generations of students, alumni and communities.
The anniversary theme, "150 Years of Excellence," reflects the university's proud history while looking toward its future.
Panther Nation will have an opportunity to celebrate that legacy throughout the evening as the university welcomes fans to Panther Stadium.
GREEK NIGHT & FACULTY/STAFF APPRECIATION
The celebration continues with Greek Night, recognizing Prairie View A&M's proud Greek community and the enduring contributions of the Divine Nine.
The university will also recognize its dedicated faculty and staff as part of Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night.
Their commitment and service play an important role in the continued success of Prairie View A&M and its students. Saturday's game provides an opportunity for the university to say thank you while bringing the Panther family together.
