Panthers Takes 52-14 Win Over Texas Southern at the 2026 Labor Day Classic

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Five different players scored touchdowns, led by two scores from Chase Bingmon, as Prairie View A&M easily defeated Texas Southern 52-14 on Sunday afternoon at Panther Stadium at Blackshear Field for the 2026 Labor Day Classic.

The Panthers improved to 1-1 on the year and 1-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers fell to 1-1 and 0-1.

Tevin Carter led Prairie View A&M's passing attack with 217 yards through the air, tossing four touchdowns without throwing an interception. The signal caller also added one touchdown on the ground.

Bingmon totaled 60 yards to lead the Panthers' ground attack and added one touchdown in the game, picking up 6 yards per carry along the way. Bingmon also tacked on 59 receiving yards and one touchdown. Jahbari Kuykendall also tacked on 37 yards on the ground, picking up 18.5 yards per carry.

Rodny Ojo reeled in three catches for 68 yards.

Malachi Williams showed out for the Prairie View A&M defense, totaling six tackles, 3.0 TFL, and three sacks. DeMarcus Wynn added three tackles, 1.0 TFL, one sack, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble and Tyler Morehead had 0.5 TFL and one recovered fumble in the win.

The Panthers won the turnover battle in Sunday's game, forcing two turnovers while avoiding any giveways.

Prairie View A&M's defense held up against Texas Southern's offense, allowing 318 total yards. The Panthers defense disrupted Texas Southern's backfield all game, collecting seven sacks and 11 total tackles for loss.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M got on the scoreboard first and opened up a 14-0 lead with 10:32 left in the first quarter.The Panthers then followed with another score to expand the lead to 17-0.

Texas Southern then scored to make it a 17-7 game, but Prairie View A&M responded with 9:01 left in the third quarter to increase its lead to 24-7.The Panthers kept building their advantage, scoring again to go up 31-7.

Prairie View A&M continued to increase its lead, scoring again with 3:50 left in the third quarter to go up 38-7.The Panthers kept scoring, tacking on a touchdown to extend their advantage to 45-7.

Prairie View A&M held the Tigers off the board before scoring for a final time with 10:04 left in the fourth quarter, stretching their lead to 52-7. Prairie View A&M didn't score again and Texas Southern added seven more points to finish off the scoring.
