Blackshear Field serves as the on-campus home site for the Prairie View A&M Panther football team as well as the track & field teams.
The stadium is named for Edward L. Blackshear, a former principal of the school who served from 1897 to 1915. Blackshear Field has turned into a homefield advantage for the Panthers as they’re 14-3 at home since 2007. Since ending their losing streak in 1998, the Panthers have played well on their home field. Of the team’s 52 wins since 1998, 24 wins have occurred at Blackshear Field.
