Mikayla "Mickey" Sorenson, a junior from Austin, Texas, is studying Kinesiology at Prairie View A&M University. She graduated from Travis ECHS and was inspired to become a student athletic trainer aide after falling in love with training and realizing it was the career she wanted to pursue. Mikayla's favorite movie is Cat in the Hat, and she enjoys listening to Chris Stapleton and Lauryn Hill. Her favorite food is mashed potatoes, and she loves Halloween because it feels the most festive. In her spare time, Mikayla enjoys drawing, painting, and watching movies.

Mikayla has worked with Prairie View football, which she finds the most interesting. She believes that attention to detail is one of the most important skills for an athletic trainer aide to possess. One of her most memorable moments as a student athletic trainer aide was when she had to lead a football game without her head trainer after an athlete broke their neck. Looking ahead, Mikayla hopes to complete grad school and pursue a career in training for a professional sports league. Her dream job is to become an athletic trainer. Mikayla chose Prairie View A&M because of the size of the campus and the opportunities it could offer her personally.
