Cameron Bonner is a senior wide receiver from Houston, Texas, majoring in Nutrition at Prairie View A&M University. A graduate of St. Thomas High School, Cameron—known as “Cam”—has continued to grow as both a student-athlete and leader on and off the field.
One of Cam’s most memorable moments in his football career was catching his first reception—a milestone that reaffirmed his love for the game and the journey he’s on. On gameday, he keeps things simple but focused: he thanks God and puts on music from Lil Wayne to get into the zone. He believes that one of the greatest challenges facing athletes today is the ability to fight through adversity, something he’s learned to navigate with resilience and perspective.
Off the field, Cam enjoys building Legos and watching films like Inception, his all-time favorite movie. He’s a fan of Will Smith, and when it comes to food, chicken parmesan tops the list. His favorite holiday is Christmas, which he cherishes for the time spent with family and the spirit of togetherness it brings.
Looking five years ahead, Cam hopes to have shared his story—the journey of how he made it to where he is today—and to continue building a meaningful life through football and beyond. His dream is to first play in the NFL and eventually transition into a prominent role as a sports broadcaster.
Cameron chose Prairie View A&M because of the opportunity it offered him to keep playing the game he loves and to be part of a winning culture.
