Amaeze Nwaemo is a linebacker from Camden, NJ, currently making his mark as a senior at Prairie View A&M University, pursuing a major in Psychology..
A fan of Kevin Hart's humor and inspired by the film Don’t Be a Menace to Society, Amaeze finds joy in the simplicity of pizza and cherishes Christmas as his favorite holiday. For him, it’s a special time when family expresses their love and appreciation for one another. Outside of football, Amaeze enjoys photography, capturing moments that reflect his creative side.
On game days, Amaeze’s ritual involves a deep connection with his faith. He starts by praying and conversing with God, mentally rehearsing game scenarios and gameplay with divine guidance. He believes that mental health and identity crises are among the greatest challenges athletes face today, as these issues can impact their performance and overall well-being.
One of his most memorable sports moments was sacking the quarterback in the end zone during a high school playoff game against Flower Mound. The thrill of seeing the crowd and his teammates erupt in celebration is a moment Amaeze will always treasure.
Looking ahead, Amaeze’s five-year goal is to create an easier path to the NFL for African American students at HBCUs, and to expand job opportunities for them overall. His dream job is coaching, a role where he can influence and mentor future athletes.
Amaeze chose Prairie View A&M University due to a combination of personal and logistical factors. The application process was straightforward, and despite challenges with other schools, he felt a divine alignment that led him to Prairie View A&M.
