Manny Martinez

Coach Manny Martinez began his tenure at Prairie View A&M University on March 9, 2026, serving as the Offensive Line/Run Game Coordinator. He brings over two decades of experience developing productive, disciplined offensive lines at the collegiate, high school, and professional internship levels, with a proven track record of dramatic offensive improvement, elite player development, and schematic adaptability.

In 2025, Martinez played a central role in one of the most significant offensive turnarounds in college football at Texas A&M–Kingsville. After finishing 121st nationally in total offense in 2024, the program surged to 12th nationally in 2025, ranking sixth in passing offense and among the nation’s top red-zone scoring units. Under his guidance, quarterback Jack Turner broke the school’s single-season passing record and finished as the third-leading passer in the nation, reflecting both protection efficiency and pass-game cohesion.

Across four seasons at Texas A&M–Kingsville, Martinez consistently developed high-level offensive linemen, producing multiple All–Lone Star Conference selections, including Jayden Trapp, Miguel Carrizales, Kevaughnte McGowan, Brenan Jackson, and Troy Billman. His units have been noted for improved sack reduction, red-zone efficiency, and consistency against pressure.

Martinez holds the unique distinction of being the last offensive line coach at Texas Southern University since the mid-1990s to produce multiple 1,000-yard rushers, accomplishing the feat twice. In 2005, Brent Wilson rushed for 1,032 yards and 10 touchdowns, marking TSU’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 1998. In 2010, Marcus Wright followed with 1,200 rushing yards. His offensive lines at TSU also contributed to a No. 2 SWAC rushing offense (164.5 ypg) and a top-three conference ranking in sacks allowed.

A former student-athlete at McMurry University, Martinez began his coaching career at the University of Houston before serving as a graduate assistant offensive line coach at Texas A&M University. He earned his first full-time collegiate role at Dodge City Community College, later coaching at Blinn College, where his offensive line paved the way for Derrick Ross to rush for 1,629 yards and 22 touchdowns in a single season.

At Howard University (2013–15), Martinez’s offensive line units helped lead the MEAC in total offense, rank second in rushing offense (200 ypg), and allow just 13 sacks, the fewest in the conference. During that span, quarterback Greg McGhee passed for nearly 5,000 yards and totaled more than 6,000 yards of offense, while running back Anthony Philyaw rushed for 721 yards and 15 touchdowns as a true freshman.

Martinez has also demonstrated adaptability at the high school level, coaching in Texas’ highest classification at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, where he led offensive lines that powered back-to-back playoff appearances and developed University of Arizona signee Michael Wiley, who rushed for 2,632 yards and 29 touchdowns over two seasons.
