Grant Mikita

Grant Mikita is in his first season as an assistant coach at Prairie View A&M University.

Prior to arriving at PVAMU, he was a graduate assistant coach under Vinay Patel for two seasons at Angelo State University and one season at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Before joining Coach Patel’s staff, Coach Mikita had prior stops at Ranger College and Panola College as an assistant coach. Before joining the junior college ranks, he was a student manager for the University of North Texas men’s basketball team from 2015-2017 under current TCU associate head coach, Tony Benford. He was also an assistant to current PVAMU assistant coach Todd Shelton as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2017.

Coach Mikita received two master’s degrees during his time as a graduate assistant coach. He received his Master of Education in Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration at Angelo State University in Spring of 2024. He also received his Master of Adult Education Management and Administration with a focus in Sports Administration at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Spring of 2024. Coach Mikita received his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas in 2017 with a major of Recreation, Event, and Sports Management. Prior to attending UNT, Coach Mikita attended Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Coach Mikita is excited to be here at “The Hill” with his fiancé Beth.
