Isaiah Specks

  • Title
    Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Isaiah Specks is a rising leader in college basketball, known for his player-centered approach, defensive expertise, and holistic commitment to developing high-level athletes. A native of Pearland, Texas, Isaiah joined Prairie View A&M University in June 2025, where he serves as one of the assistant coaches for the women’s basketball program.

Prior to arriving at PVAMU, Isaiah served as the Director of Player Development and Assistant Coach for Indiana University Women’s Basketball, one of the top programs in the country. At Indiana, he played a dual role—overseeing all facets of individual and group player development while also serving as the team’s Defensive Coordinator. His leadership helped guide the Hoosiers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 run in 2024 and a Round of 32 finish in 2025.

As Director of Player Development, Isaiah designed and implemented personalized skill development plans for every player on the roster. His work contributed to the growth of standout performers such as Yarden Garzon (2nd Team All-Big Ten), Karoline Striplin, and Lilly Meister, and enhanced the games of veterans like Mackenzie Holmes, Sara Scalia, Sydney Parrish, and Shay Ciezki. He also led film sessions, managed scout-specific training, and supported the mental and emotional growth of each athlete.

In his role as Defensive Coordinator, Isaiah installed a team-wide defensive philosophy rooted in disruption, discipline, and adaptability. Under his leadership, Indiana ranked among the top in the Big Ten in defensive scoring (64.4 PPG allowed), with Isaiah managing opponent-specific game planning, in-game adjustments, and the defensive segments of daily practices.

Before joining Indiana, he served as the Head Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Houghton College Men’s Basketball program in Upstate New York. There, he led the team’s defensive system, played a central role in player development, recruitment, and statistical analysis, and helped the team achieve its lowest defensive points-per-game average in five seasons.

Isaiah’s coaching journey began at his Alma mater, Trinity University in San Antonio, where he played four years of college basketball and earned a B.A. in Psychology. After graduating, he returned to Trinity as a volunteer assistant coach with the women’s basketball program, an experience that sparked his passion for teaching, mentoring, and leading through the game.

Beyond the college sidelines, Isaiah is the Founder of Coach Logic Basketball Camps and First Chance Sports INC—two initiatives dedicated to providing development opportunities to youth athletes across Texas, especially in underserved communities.

From the Big Ten to HBCU courts, Isaiah Specks brings experience, intention, and heart to every program he serves—and now begins a new chapter with the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M.
