Ortega McDavid

Ortega McDavid enters her third season as an assistant coach for the Prairie View A&M women’s basketball program. Her duties include overseeing equipment, film exchange, assisting in travel coordination, scouting, administrative duties and on-court coaching.

Prior to becoming an assistant coach, McDavid served two seasons (2008-10) as the women's basketball graduate assistant coach at Prairie View A&M.  McDavid also served as team manager during the 2006-07 campaign and was responsible for the team's equipment and daily office tasks.
 
A native of Marlin, Texas, McDavid had a solid two-year playing career at Texas College from 2003-2005. While attending Texas College, she received the Athletic Academic Award for a GPA of 3.4 or higher. She then pursued her educational career at Prairie View A&M University where she made the Dean’s List through the 2005-2008 academic years. When she wasn’t playing basketball, McDavid served as a coach for the Central Texas Basketball League.

McDavid graduated from Prairie View A&M in May of 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and a minor in Health.  McDavid is currently continuing her education by pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Administration.

McDavid is a proud daughter of Terrence and Debra McDavid and also holds memberships in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America.
