Tai Dillard

Tai Dillard brings over 15 years of coaching and playing experience to the Panthers' athletics department, joining the women’s basketball coaching staff on May 1, 2025. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Dillard most recently served as the Associate Head Coach for the University of Houston Women’s Basketball Team.

During her time at Houston (2016–2025), Dillard played a pivotal role in building a competitive program. After being promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2022, she previously served as the team’s Recruiting Coordinator. Under her guidance, the Cougars reached the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) in 2017, 2018, and 2021. Dillard also played a significant role in the development of standout guard Laila Blair, who broke multiple school records and earned postseason honors in both the American Athletic Conference and the Big 12.

Before her tenure at Houston, Dillard held coaching positions at Ole Miss (2013–14), USC (2012–13), and UTSA (2007–12). She began her coaching career at the high school level, serving as head cross country coach and assistant basketball and track coach at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio. In 2024, Dillard participated in the NCAA Champion Forum, a premier professional development program for current coaches. The forum offers a unique and transformative experience, providing insight into the realities of becoming a head coach at the collegiate level.

As a player, Dillard was a four-year letter winner at the University of Texas (1999–2003), competing under legendary Hall of Fame coach Jody Conradt. She helped lead the Longhorns to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four run in 2003. A two-time Big 12 All-Academic selection, Dillard started 34 games her senior season and helped Texas to a 29-6 overall record.

Following her collegiate career, Dillard played professionally for the WNBA’s San Antonio Silver Stars (2003–2005), as well as internationally in Israel and in the National Women’s Basketball League.

Dillard earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas in 2003 and a master’s degree in Sports Leadership and Sports Studies from Texas Southern University. She is married to former Texas basketball standout Brandon Mouton, and together they have two sons, Langston and Caden.
