2026-27 Women's Basketball Roster
Biography
Ja’Nya Chrai Cotton Polk, known as “Big Ny,” is a junior center on the Prairie View A&M University women’s basketball team. Standing at 6-foot-6, Polk hails from Oneonta, Alabama, and previously attended Itawamba Community College. She is pursuing a degree in interdisciplinary studies and chose Prairie View A&M because the coaches and players made her feel welcomed and included.
Polk’s passion for basketball is fueled by the sacrifices her mother has made for her and her brothers, inspiring her to work hard and pursue her goals. She describes herself as ambitious, indomitable and empathetic, and believes mental health is one of the greatest challenges facing athletes today. One of her most memorable basketball experiences has been traveling with her teammates, creating lasting memories along the way.
Beyond basketball, Polk enjoys watching Coraline, listening to “Evergreen” by Omar Apollo and embracing the holiday spirit during Christmas. If given the opportunity to compete one-on-one against any athlete, past or present, she would choose basketball legend Kobe Bryant. After graduation, Polk aspires to become a certified nurse-midwife, combining her educational pursuits with her goal of making a difference in the lives of others.
