Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Emily “Em” Apodaca is a senior from El Paso, Texas, majoring in Public Health at Prairie View A&M University. A graduate of Socorro High School, Emily was inspired to play soccer by her elementary coach who encouraged her from a young age. She dedicates her passion for the sport to her auntie, who passed away, and continues to play with heart and determination.

Emily’s most memorable moment in soccer was winning MVP All-District in El Paso, as well as forming lifelong friendships in college. She recognizes mental health as one of the biggest challenges athletes face today and strives to maintain balance and focus both on and off the field.

Outside of soccer, Emily enjoys running and riding horses. Her favorite movie is Fast and Furious 7, and she loves Pluckers and gorditas. Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday because she enjoys indulging in all the food. Emily chose Prairie View A&M for its School of Nursing and plans to become a Physician Assistant within five years.
