Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Isabella "Bella" Ruelas, a junior majoring in Marketing at Prairie View A&M University, plays midfield and hails from Greenville, Texas. Inspired by the legendary Ronaldinho, Bella began her soccer journey with a passion fueled by her mother, Marisa Castillo, who always believed in her potential and pushed her to excel.

Before joining Prairie View A&M, Bella attended Paris Junior College. One of her most cherished memories in soccer is the all-day tournaments with her club team, where she fondly recalls the camaraderie of sitting under a tent and enjoying snacks with her teammates.

Outside of soccer, Bella enjoys nature, planting, and spending time with her dog. Her favorite movie is Twilight, and she loves chicken strips. Christmas is her favorite holiday, celebrated with family gatherings.

Bella identifies mental health as one of the greatest challenges for athletes today, highlighting the struggle to manage self-criticism and the pressure to maintain peak performance. Looking ahead, she hopes to find peace with herself and her career, embracing imperfections and learning from mistakes. Her dream job is to be a professional soccer player.

Bella chose Prairie View A&M University for its welcoming environment and the sense of unity within the team. She continues to be driven by her passion for soccer and her desire to honor her mother’s belief in her potential.
