Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Niasia “Asia” Goodwin is a striker from Schertz, Texas, currently a junior majoring in General Studies at Prairie View A&M University. A transfer from Sam Houston State, Asia was inspired by her father to start playing soccer and is driven by a personal mission to prove to herself what she’s capable of while being a key contributor to her team’s success.

Her most memorable soccer moment came after scoring a long-awaited goal in a competitive game and celebrating with her teammates on the field. Asia’s long-term goal is to play professionally overseas, and she’s passionate about staying mentally strong in a sport that constantly tests an athlete’s resilience. She believes one of the biggest challenges for athletes today is maintaining the mental drive to keep going.

Off the field, Asia enjoys self-care activities and has a deep love for wildlife, with dreams of one day working with animals. Her favorite movie is Grown Ups, and her go-to meals are steak and macaroni and cheese. Christmas is her favorite holiday because of the time it brings with family. Asia chose Prairie View A&M because she wanted to attend an HBCU and believes she can make a meaningful impact on the program.
