Zaakir Sawyer is a graduate student majoring in Physical Education, hailing from Dallas. He previously played at Tarleton State and now plays as a guard at Prairie View A&M.

Zaakir’s favorite NBA player is LeBron James, whom he admires for his longevity and sustained excellence in the sport. His favorite all-time movie is "Paid in Full," and he enjoys chicken Alfredo. Among holidays, he values winter break for the chance to spend quality time with family.

In his free time, Zaakir enjoys bowling, reflecting his love for competition and leisure. To him, being part of a team means fulfilling his role for the betterment of the collective group. It involves contributing to the team's success while working together towards shared goals.

He believes that one of the greatest challenges for athletes today is managing distractions from outsiders and staying focused amidst external pressures. One of Zaakir’s most memorable moments in sports was winning the JUCO conference, which allowed his team to advance to the JUCO Nationals.

In five years, Zaakir hopes to be making a significant income through his career. His dream job is to become a professional basketball player. He chose Prairie View A&M for its family-oriented atmosphere, the supportive coaching staff, and the positive environment around the campus.
