Prairie View A&M University President Dr. Tomikia P. LeGrande appointed Anton Goff as Director of Athletics on August 7, 2023. A veteran athletics administrator with more than 25 years of leadership experience, Goff has guided Prairie View A&M Athletics through a period of unprecedented success, strategic growth, and national recognition.
Under Goff’s leadership, the Panthers experienced a historic 2025-26 academic year. The department launched the Panther Athletic Fund (PAF), the first dedicated fundraising arm in Prairie View A&M Athletics history, and partnered with Taymar Sales U. to enhance corporate sponsorships and ticket sales. On the competitive front, Prairie View celebrated one of the most successful years in department history. Volleyball captured the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular-season championship, football won its first SWAC Championship since 2009 and made its inaugural appearance in the Cricket Celebration Bowl, men’s basketball claimed the SWAC Tournament title and recorded the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory with a First Four win over Lehigh, and women’s golf earned its first SWAC Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history.
During the 2024-25 season, Prairie View A&M claimed a SWAC championship in women’s bowling, marking Goff’s first conference title as Director of Athletics. He was also appointed to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Oversight Committee, which helps shape the future of FCS football nationally. Under his direction, major facility enhancements were completed at the William J. “Billy” Nicks Building (Baby Dome), Panther Stadium, and the softball and women’s soccer facilities. Goff also led a transformational period in coaching, hiring new head coaches for football, volleyball, baseball, women’s basketball, and the men’s and women’s golf programs.
In his first year at Prairie View A&M, the Panthers captured the SWAC West Division football title and advanced to the 2023 SWAC Football Championship Game, signaling the beginning of a new era of success.
Before arriving at Prairie View A&M, Goff served as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services at Northern Illinois University, where he also oversaw recreation programs and served as sport administrator for women’s cross country/track and field and volleyball. Prior to NIU, he held director of athletics positions at St. John’s University, the University of Hartford, and Bowie State University. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for strengthening fundraising efforts, enhancing competitive success, and elevating academic achievement and graduation rates among student-athletes.
Earlier in his career, Goff held leadership roles in academic support and student services at the University of Maryland and Michigan State University, where he developed academic and career development programs that supported hundreds of student-athletes. He began his career at Kent State University as an academic counselor and CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinator.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Goff was a football student-athlete at Bowling Green State University from 1986-89. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Goff and his wife, Wendy Wilson Goff, are the proud parents of two daughters, Alexa and Gianna. He is also a member of the prestigious Fraternity of Kappa Alpha PSI, Inc.
