Chris Collins serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Prairie View A&M University, bringing a diverse background that spans the high school, collegiate, and professional levels of athletic performance. A bilingual professional with experience working domestically and internationally, Collins has coached athletes in both the United States and the Dominican Republic, with previous tenures in the player development systems of the Minnesota Twins and San Francisco Giants organizations.
Before joining PVAMU, Collins served as a MiLB Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Minnesota Twins, where he led performance enhancement initiatives in the Dominican Summer League and Florida Complex League. His role emphasized technology-driven performance monitoring and interdisciplinary collaboration with athletic trainers, dietitians, and sport psychologists to optimize athlete development. Prior to that, he directed the Sports Performance Department at Oceanside Collegiate Academy in South Carolina, overseeing training for all 21 athletic programs.
Throughout his career, Collins has demonstrated a commitment to holistic athlete development—enhancing not only physical performance but also personal growth through mentorship, communication, and leadership. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification, integrating evidence-based nutrition strategies into his training philosophy.
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, Collins earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Recreation. He is certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED by the American Red Cross and holds bilingual competence in Spanish, allowing him to effectively connect with athletes from diverse cultural backgrounds.
