Shandon Lee joined the PVAMU Department of Athletics in the role of athletics academic advisor in September 2020. He will be working with the football and men’s and women’s tennis programs.
Lee brings 17 years of experience in student program development, academic advising, project management, student counseling and leadership development. He arrives to The Hill from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where he had a five-year stint as an academic advisor in the institution’s School of Science and Computer Engineering. In that post, he assisted in the planning, development, and implementation of student orientation programs along with his advising duties
Previously, Lee worked at Texas Southern University in a similar role from 2011 to 2014, where he also aided in the recruitment of prospective undergraduate and transfer students. Lee’s prior stops include Lonestar Community College-Greenspoint/Carver (2005-2011) and the University of Phoenix (2004-2005), where he began his foray into the realm of student advisement.
Having worked with students and individuals from a variety of backgrounds, Lee also has a background in social work, job placement and educational administration.
Lee earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in 1997, and went on to earn a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix (2005) and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston-Clear Lake in August 2020. Lee is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
