Smith began her role as the Athletic Compliance Director at Prairie View A&M University in July 2024, where she oversees compliance efforts related to academic eligibility, recruitment, NIL initiatives, etc.
Before joining Prairie View A&M, Whitley served as the Athletic Compliance & Academics Assistant, Football Operations Assistant, Sports Live Camera/Production Assistant, Social Media Team Member, and Student Sports Reporter Anchor at Jackson State University during her undergraduate and graduate years. In between, Her participation in the NFL Internship Program allowed her to gain valuable insights into the sports and entertainment industry, enhancing her strategic approach to compliance.
Smith has also directed social media strategies for several sports organizations, including the Indiana Attack Basketball Club and the South Bend Adams Basketball Team, where she effectively increased audience engagement and visibility. She has also had other great experiences, such as with ESPN and CBS/Turner Media, over the years.
In the summer of 2023, she received her bachelor's degree from Jackson State University, having majored in Journalism and Media Studies with a Concentration in Sports Media. In December 2024, she obtained her master's degree in Sports Management from her Alma Mater.
