PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Second year Head Prairie View A&M football Coach Eric Dooley and the Panther football team continues to show effort and excitement in the first scrimmage and day nine of the 2019 preseason camp.
Both the defensive and offensive units demonstrated that this game is about putting out effort during today's scrimmage noted Dooley.
"I am big on effort, cause I am an effort guy as you know it doesn't matter about your talent everyone can give effort and I thought both sides gave a lot of effort today," said Dooley. "I thought they were exciting and they showed a lot of excitement as well as enthusiasm."
Even with the heat and a week in of practice the Panthers were able to put out a clean scrimmage, produce some big plays and fine tune what they have been working on thus far in camp.
"These guys came out and played a relatively clean ball game," Dooley said. "That's what I look for, I just don't look for the big plays because that's what they are supposed to do. I worry about the little detail things and our big motto is we want to scratch where it itches. That's the little things that fine tunes us to be a better football team."
The Panther football preseason camp will remain closed to spectators and will only be available to media upon request.
Prairie View A&M Athletics will host a back to school backpack and supply giveaway on Saturday, August 24 along with fan appreciation day after the final football scrimmage beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Prairie View A&M will open its season against Texas Southern for the Labor Day Classic slated for a 5:30 p.m. kick-off at the BBVA Stadium in Houston. The game will be live on ESPN3.
