The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team opens up the 2011-12 campaign on Friday evening with a matchup versus Rice University in the Williams Nicks Building on the Prairie View A&M campus at 7 p.m.
Friday's matchup marks the 12th meeting in the all-time series and the first since 2008. A member of Conference USA, Rice was picked to finish second in the annual C-USA poll after placing third last season.
Led by second-year head coach Toyelle Wilson, Prairie View A&M was picked to finish atop the SWAC standings after earning a NCAA Women's Tourney bid in 2011. The Lady Panthers feature a revamped roster as two letterwinners are joined by nine newcomers.
Friday's game will be broadcasted live by KPVU 91.3 FM and video streamed on the PVPanthers.com website.
