HOUSTON, Texas - Three players scored in double figures as the Prairie View A&M Panthers snapped a seven-game slide in an 88-55 victory over Dallas Christian College at the M.O. Campbell Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers took control from the onset as they led 20-7 midway through the first half. The lead grew to as much as 18 on two occasions in the first half before DCC closed to within 13 (45-32) at halftime.
Prairie View A&M pulled away to begin the second half as they outscored the Crusaders 14-2 to begin the second stanza. The lead grew to as large as 32 on Ryan Gesiakowski's trey with 4:11 remaining as the Panthers closed out the contest with their third win in the all-time series versus DCC.
Gesiakowski and Demondre Chapman both scored 21 points apiece with Chapman also completing the double-double with 10 boards. Jourdan DeMuynck also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while
Jules Montgomery grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots.
Isaac Gonzalez led the Crusaders with 21 points and four rebounds while Donte Choice followed with 13 points.
The Panthers return action this week as they'll travel to Eugene, Ore. for a three-day tourney on the campus of the University of Oregon. The Panthers will play Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. followed by Oregon on Wednesday at 9 p.m. and North Carolina Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
