GRAMBLING, La. - The Lady Panther softball team dropped two-of-three versus Grambling State this weekend on the campus of Grambling.

One day after a solid outing over Texas College, the Lady Panthers struggled to begin the opener as Grambling State recorded a 9-1 win on Friday.

Artavia Woods led the way with a pair of hits and an RBI while Jasmin Littles scored a run with a hit.

On Saturday, GSU scored five runs in the sixth to break open a tight game as they captured a 12-7 victory in the opener.

The Lady Panthers led 3-2 after one and took part in a back-and-forth affair from that point as the lead changed hands several times. Grambling State broke the game open in the sixth behind the strength of a five-run frame which featured six hits.

Kesha Hagerman and Darlene Salinas led the way with three hits apiece. Salinas also posted two RBIs while Hagerman scored two runs.

In game two, Bridget Coronado was a one-woman wrecking crew with strong performances on both sides of the plate as PV salvaged the series with a 3-0 win.

Sarina Rios drove in the game's first run in the second inning while Coronado helped out her own cause on the mound in the fourth after belting a two-run homer to left field. On the mound, Coronado struck out six and only allowed three hits in a complete-game effort.

Coronado finished 3-for-3 at the plate while Hagerman followed with two hits. Jasmin Littles also had a solid outing with two runs scored along with a hit.
