Jackson Named To All-SWAC Team

Junior newcomer Raven Lewis was the lone member from the Lady Panther tennis team to earn All-SWAC honors as the Houston native was selected to the first team.

“Raven was our MVP as she kept us in matches,” stated Cochran. “She played hurt for most of the year but she held her own as she played well in her first season here.”

The Lady Panthers finished second in the SWAC West with a 7-2 mark and also advanced to the semifinals of the SWAC Championships. Despite both team's individual accomplishments, Cochran still has a bitter taste in his mouth due to the fact that his teams were right in the thick of the championship hunt.

“It's definitely disappointing,” he said. “Both teams knew they had the opportunity to win as it wasn't like we just got beat outright. We aided and abetted our losing. We had the wins on our rackets but we just didn't get the job done. We're going to have live with that for a year.”
