The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team had a day of sight-seeing and relaxation after two early practices in Anchorage, Alaska one day before its game against Utah State in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout at 9 p.m. central time.
Prairie View A&M (0-2) will face a winless Utah State Aggies (0-3) team today at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska that will also be scrapping to put a notch in the win column. The tournament field also includes North Dakota State and Alaska-Anchorage. It will be the first time Prairie View A&M has faced Utah State or either of the other teams in the field during the program's history.
Senior leaders Kiara Etienne (16 ppg, 2.5 rpg) and Latia Williams (12.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg) will have the task of getting the Lady Panthers' offense out of its rut as they lead by example. Prairie View A&M is averaging just 48.5 points per game this season. Sophomore center Larissa Scott, who put up 14 points in her last game against Stephen F Austin on Nov. 13, will also be a key component in getting the post presence established early.
