Jatzlau To Receive Student-Athlete Award For Commitment To Science

For his hard work in the classroom, Prairie View A&M football student-athlete Travis Jatzlau has been selected as a Student-Athlete Award Winner by the Career Communications Group, Inc.  Jatzlau will receive his award at the annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Student Leadership Awards Dinner on Feb. 8, 2013 in Washington D.C.

A native of Jersey Village, Texas, Jatzlau will be honored during the annual Student Leadership Awards Dinner which takes place during the 27th annual BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference in the Thurgood Marshall Ballroom of the Washington Marriot Wardman Park hotel in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 8, 2013.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  Jatzlau and other student-athletes from across the country will be recognized in front of over 1,000 STEM professionals and college students during the dinner in addition to appearing in the US Black Engineer& IT conference magazine.

A biology major and chemistry minor with aspirations on becoming a doctor, Jatzlau was a key member of the Panther football team this past fall as he averaged nearly 40 yards per punt.  Academically, Jatzlau is a two-time member of the Prairie View A&M University Honor Roll which is the highest academic achievement on the Prairie View A&M campus.
