PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Prairie View A&M received a solid performance on both sides of the plate from a pair of freshmen as Shontel Lopez drove in three RBIs coupled with a shutout from Nicole Gallardo in a 5-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday afternoon.

Lopez scored the game's first run with a solo homer to left field in the fourth inning for an early 1-0 lead.  She reached base once again in the sixth on a UAPB error followed by Kelly Scruggs as both eventually scored on Alissa Navarro's two-RBI single en route to a 3-0 decision.  With two outs in the seventh, PV loaded the bases and added two more insurance runs as Lopez drove in two more RBIs for the 5-0 decision.

Jasmin Littles led PV with two hits while Lopez drove in three RBIs.  Gallardo won her third straight contest after striking out two on five hits.

The series concludes on Saturday with a noon doubleheader.
