Shanequa Valentine, the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference Individual golf champion, finished third in the Women's Independent Division in the PGA Minority Golf Championship Sunday in Port St. Lucia, Fla.
The Lady Panthers' ace golfer had a three-day total score of 244, just five strokes behind the individual winner from Xavier University, Ariel McNair. Valentine had a rough start on Day 1, shooting an 88.
However, she bounced back after adjusting to the course, shooting a 78 on Day 2 and on Day 3 to close in on the competition.
“It was a great ending for the women's individual SWAC Champion” Prairie View A&M coach Alvin Blake said.
