BOX SCORE 2 Houston Baptist claimed a midweek, non-conference doubleheader over Prairie View A&M on Wednesday afternoon at the PVAMU Softball Complex by 11-1, 7-0 margins.
A pair of five-run innings lifted HBU to an 11-1 win over the Lady Panthers in the opener.
HBU crossed home the game's first run in the second and set the tone in the third as a leadoff homer led to a five-run inning and a 6-0 PVAMU deficit. PVAMU scored in the bottom of the third as Alisa Navarro's RBI scored Cally Falls, who led the inning off with a single. However, that would be the lone run of the game as HBU scored five times in the fifth to put the game away.
Rachel Rodriguez had two of PVAMU's five hits while Brittanie Gardner took the loss on the mound.
In game two, PVAMU hung close but lost control of the game late as HBU scored five runs over the final two innings to claim a 7-0 win.
HBU jumped ahead 2-0 in the second and PVAMU had a shot to put a rally together in the fourth but stranded two runners. The Huskies scored twice in the fifth and tacked on three more in the sixth while PVAMU failed to pick up a hit the remainder of the way.
Monica Cartwright was tagged with the loss while Brenicia Woods and Jazmine Hicks recorded one hit each.
PVAMU returns to action on Friday as they'll face Southern at 3 p.m. on Friday in Baton Rouge, La.
