BOX SCORE 4 LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers ended a six-match losing streak Saturday when they swept Southwestern Athletic Conference foe Alcorn State to conclude the Cowgirl Classic, hosted by McNeese State.
Scores of the match were 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20.
Candyce Alexander posted a double-double to lead the Lady Panthers (3-10) to victory, knocking down 15 kills and recording 10 digs. The senior from Bedford, Texas, had only four errors and hit .324 for the match.
Lenicia Tyson followed with nine digs.
Ana Kiso (Belgrade, Serbia) also had a double-double, handing out 35 assists and registering 10 digs.
Chandler Bacon led the defensive effort with 21 digs.
The Lady Panthers hit .178 for the match and held Alcorn State to a negative hitting percentage. The Lady Braves had 19 kills and 20 errors during the match.
Prairie View A&M opened the day against Tennessee Tech. The Lady Panthers fell by scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 27-25.
The Lady Panthers return to action Tuesday when they visit Houston Baptist. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Prairie View A&M will aim to avenge an earlier four-set loss to the Huskies.
DAY 1
The Prairie View A&M volleyball team experienced a rough start to the Cowgirl Classic, dropping both of its Friday matches to open the event.

The state of Louisiana has thus far proven to be an ungracious host, as the Lady Panthers were swept by Louisiana-Monroe to start the day, and then dropped a hard-fought, four-set match to host McNeese State.

In the match against the Warhawks, Prairie View A&M managed only 21 kills (and committed 14 attack errors) as ULM won in three sets.
Candyce Alexander and
Jasmine Lewis each knocked down four kills for the Panthers.

Against the 6-3 Cowgirls, the Lady Panthers dropped the first two sets (25-13, 25-17) before recovering to take set three by a 25-17 advantage. PVAMU fought hard in the fourth set before succumbing 27-25.

Lenicia Tyson knocked down a team-high 12 kills for the Lady Panthers in Friday's finale, followed by Alexander, who added 11 kills.
Jasmine Lewis finished a kill shy of a double-double, knocking down nine kills and recording a team-high 14 digs.

McNeese State was led by Rachel Cagnina, who knocked down 21 kills against only two errors for a .528 hitting percentage.

Prairie View dropped to 2-9 with the pair of losses.

The Lady Panthers return to action Saturday when they face Tennessee Tech at 1:30 p.m. before concluding the event with a match against SWAC foe Alcorn State at 6 p.m.
