PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers put together their first winning streak of the season Tuesday after they swept Huston-Tillotson in three sets.

Scores of the match were 25-14, 25-10, and 25-19.

Outside hitter
Sydney Walker knocked down a career-high 18 kills and recorded eight digs to lead the Lady Panthers (2-17) to the victory. The freshman from Grand Prairie, Texas, hit .389 for the match, and her 18 kills were the most by a PVAMU player this season.

Hitters
Calli Jordan Hensch and
Mariah Thomas (pictured) knocked down eight kills apiece for the Lady Panthers. Hensch committed no errors among her 13 attempts and hit .615 over the course of the match.

Ana Kiso handed out 26 assists for Prairie View A&M, while
Paige Chuidian led the defensive effort with 10 digs.

Kayla Garrett had eight kills to lead Huston-Tillotson (3-12), an NAIA program that competes in the Red River Athletic Conference.

The Lady Panthers exerted their will in the first set with a 10-3 run that stretched their lead to 19-9. The home team dominated in the second set, piecing together two 9-0 runs before the mid-match break.

Prairie View A&M jumped out to a 7-1 lead in set three, but found the Rams to be a little more resilient this time as they fought back to cut the lead to 8-5. Later in the set, the Rams would go on a 7-1 run to cut the PVAMU lead to 18-17 before the Lady Panthers would finish the match by scoring five of the last six points.

Kira Kirkham handed out 12 assists for the Lady Panthers. Kiso added nine digs while
Christen Augustine chipped in seven digs.

The Lady Panthers return to action this weekend when they take part in the inaugural Southwestern Athletic Conference Volleyball Roundup at Jackson State. PVAMU will face all five teams from the SWAC's East Division over the course of Friday and Saturday.

The first of Friday's three matches for the Lady Panthers will be against Alabama A&M. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Jackson State.
