The Panthers started a key, six-game SWAC swing six weeks ago and have won five straight conference games and six consecutive games overall.
• Due to Grambling State's win last weekend over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the SWAC West has been clinched but all is not lost as the team still has an opportunity to receive an at-large bid to the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs at the end of the month. A win on Saturday would strengthen PVAMU's overall resume as the official bracket will be unveiled on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. on ESPNU. PVAMU has clinched a winning season for the first time since 2010 and has not won eight-plus games since 2009.
• A slow start this season led to a mid-season coaching change at Jackson State as the Tigers enter with a 3-6 record. Derrick McCall took over for Harold Jackson on Oct. 6
• Jackson State has had Prairie View A&M's number for quite some time as the Panthers ended a four-game losing streak to JSU last season as they won in Jackson, Miss. for the first time since 1970.
• Saturday's game also marks the first time Jackson State will return to the area since 2007 as the games in 2011 and 2013 were played in Shreveport, La.
• PVAMU has the top offense in the SWAC at 484 yards per game and ranks second in scoring offense with 43.7 points per game while JSU averages 25.3 points per game and 382.8 total offensive yards.
• PVAMU senior
Nick Brewer has blocked six combined kicks this season, which places him two away from tying the all-time FCS season record (8).
•
Trey Green ranks second in the SWAC with 270 yards per game passing and 18 touchdowns. Running back Johnta' Hebert ranks fourth in rushing with 78 yards per game.
• The Panthers will wrap up the regular season with eight games inside the state of Texas and left the state only three times this season.
• Five players were named to the 2015 All-SWAC Preseason Team while Prairie View A&M was picked third in the SWAC West in the annual SWAC Preseason Poll.
