PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers tennis team picked up its second win of the season Friday when they defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 5-2.
The Lady Panthers wasted little time guaranteeing themselves the win, as they won the first three singles matches completed after taking the doubles point by winning flights two and three.

Sydney Thomas and Shaddae Findley claimed a 6-4 win in flight two doubles action of Nadia Grlj and Tabata Lua.
Maria Lackey and Tatiana Ruhl
(pictured, Ruhl in foreground) gave the Lady Panthers the doubles point when they defeated Paula Saenz and Erika Larrea 6-2.
In singles play, Findley and Lackey picked up two relatively quick wins for PVAMU in flights four and five, respectively. Findley claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Grlj, while Lackey defeated Saenz 6-3, 6-2. Not much later,
Taylor LeFridge gave the Lady Panthers the fourth and deciding point when she defeated Mariaxi Herrera 6-4, 6-2 in flight one singles play.
Thomas would also go on to take a singles victory for the Lady Panthers, as she defeated Lua in a hard-fought, three-set match. Thomas prevailed by scores of 6-3, 4-6, and 6-2.
Texas A&M-Kingsville, an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Lone Star Conference, got wins from Larrea in flight six and Marija Dimitrovska in flight three. Larrea won a three-set decision from Ruhl, losing 7-6 (7-2) to Ruhl in the first set before coming back to win 6-2 and 10-4. The third set was shortened with the dual match result already decided.
Dimitrovska was the only Javelina player to finish the day undefeated, though she had to play many games to achieve that feat. The Macedonian teamed with Herrera to take a hard-fought 6-4 win from LeFridge and Stacy Lackey of Prairie View A&M in flight one doubles. In singles play, Dimitrovska needed three sets to claim a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Stacy Lackey.
The Lady Panthers return to action Saturday when they face Auburn in a dual match in Houston.
