Despite posting a 7-4 record and a 15-3 mark against FCS teams in the past two seasons, the Prairie View A&M football team was not selected for the 2016 FCS Playoffs.
Â
The Panthers played arguably the toughest schedule in program history in facing two FBS teams (Texas A&M, Rice) in the 11 game schedule of only Division I opponents. The only blemishes in conference play were to the only two undefeated teams in the SWAC (Grambling, Southern), as Prairie View A&M finishes 7-2 in league play.

The PVAMU resume was strong, but not good enough for the selection committee, as the Panthers' season officially ended Saturday with their best performance of the season, a 57-7 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
"it's very disappointing not to be selected for the playoffs," Prairie View A&M head coach
Willie Simmons said. "We believe the season we've had and the competition we faced throughout the year was worthy of postseason play and stronger than some of the teams selected. We're proud of what our team accomplished this season, and we'll continue working to build a championship program."
