The Prairie View A&M University men's basketball team lost a 91-83 game Friday afternoon in the William J. Nicks Babydome.

The Panthers (2-4) cut an 18-point deficit to one late in the second half but couldn't quite complete the comeback against the Cardinals (4-1).

Zachary Hamilton scored a season-high 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including 7-of-13 from three-point range.
Shay'rone Jett came off the bench to score 18 points and tally seven rebounds and
Admassu Williams scored 10.

There were eight ties and four lead changes in the game, as the teams combined for 101 first-half points with each team shooting over 50 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. The Panthers trailed by as many as 10 in the early going before they found the shooting touch. A 15-2 run by capped by a jumper by Williams gave the Panthers a 17-14 lead with just under 12 minutes to play in the first half.

A three-pointer by Hamilton gave PV its largest lead of the game 25-19, with 9:47 to play until halftime. However, a late Lamar run gave the Cardinals a 49-42 halftime advantage.

Lamar took its largest lead at 18 for the last time at 78-60 with just over seven minutes to play before a furious Panthers' rally. Hamilton started and ended the run with three-pointers as part of the 21-4 run over a four-minute stretch cut the Panthers' deficit to 82-81 but could get no closer.
