Bowling Team Earns Highest National Ranking In History Of Program

The Prairie View A&M University women's bowling program has moved up to 15th in the latest poll by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA).

The Top 15 ranking is the highest ever for a Southwestern Athletic Conference program.

The Lady Panthers entered the season ranked 22nd and moved up seven spots after posting a 24-15 record in three events this fall, with 11 victories coming against ranked teams including then #2-ranked and defending national champion Stephen F. Austin. PVAMU finished 10th the Bethune-Cookman Invitational, 9th in the Fairleigh Dickinson Tournament, and 6th in the Sam Houston St. Tournament

"I am very pleased to see that other coaches nationally are acknowledging the higher level of competition that we are performing against," said Prairie View A&M head coach Glenn White, who has led the program to three SWAC Championships and three second-place finishes in the past seven years. "It also is great to know that although we have this ranking early on in our season, we as a team know that we have not performed at our best yet. There is still a lot of improvement we can make and that we will be working on, and if we perform to our capabilities, we should continue to excel. I'm really proud of the team and what they have been able to accomplish thus far."

The Lady Panthers return to action January 20-22 in the SWAC West Roundup in Houston.
