Second-Half Run Hurts Panthers In Loss At Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kansas – The Prairie View A&M University men's basketball team lost at Kansas State 74-55 Tuesday at Bramlage Coliseum.

Daquan Cook scored a season-high 18 points with a pair of rebounds, and four assists, and Zachary Hamilton added 14 and a season-high tying five rebounds for the Panthers who are on game three of a seven-game road trip.

PVAMU (2-7) executed a patient, methodical game plan over the first 20+ minutes, as neither team led by double figures during that time. A three-pointer by Cook gave Prairie View A&M its last lead, a 24-23 advantage with just under three minutes to play in the first half. A 12-6 run gave the Wildcats (8-1) a 35-29 lead at intermission.

A three pointer by Hamilton on the opening possession of the second half cut the Panthers' deficit to 35-32. However, a 19-4 run gave K-State a 54-36 lead with 13:40 to play. PVAMU never trailed by less than 13 the remainder of the contest.

The Panthers return to action Saturday at Texas State in a 4 p.m. game which can be heard on the Open Mic Broadcast Network.
