The 2016 PVAMU football recruiting class earned a No. 2 ranking by the nationally syndicated sports talk show FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW (Boxtorow.com).  The site ranks the top 10 HBCU FCS recruiting classes based on research from school releases, local newspaper articles and recruiting boards.

The Panthers fielded the top recruiting class in the SWAC as the Panthers inked a total of 16 standouts on the first day of the national signing period for high school student-athletes.  Ten members from the second class by head coach Willie Simmons earned a rating of two stars or higher with a pair of three-star standouts in Ju'Anthony Parker and Stefan McCray.
