PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers returned to their home courts Tuesday for a rematch with Texas A&M–Corpus Christi. The visiting Islanders won the match by a score of 5-0.
 
With heavy winds and the threat of rain, the teams opted to play the singles matches first. The Lady Panthers received strong play from Neharika Rama, who won six games in a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Jelena Dzinic in flight one.
 
Stacy Lackey also gave a spirited performance for Prairie View A&M, falling 6-1, 6-3 to Celia Rodriguez in a hard-fought flight three match.  In flight five, PVAMU's Shaddae Findley held a 3-1 lead in flight five before her match with Kerry Galhos was abandoned. Galhos won the first set 3-1.
 
With concerns about the weather hovering over the match, the teams moved into doubles play when the Islanders won the necessary four points. Rama and Lackey took two games from Dzinic and Judit Vives in flight one, while Sydney Thomas and Maria Lackey also took two games in flight three from Alexandra Belle and Kerry Galhos.
 
The match against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi concluded a stretch of three matches in four days for the Lady Panthers. Prairie View A&M visited the Houston Cougars on Saturday and then traveled to San Antonio on Sunday to face Incarnate Word.
 
The Cougars and Lady Panthers played a truncated match Saturday, with Houston claiming a 4-0 win. Trinity Randolph won three games from her Houston opponent Maria Cardenas in flight four.
 
Prairie View A&M was the first of two Southwestern Athletic Conference teams the Cougars faced Saturday; Houston also defeated Southern 4-0 score.
 
Against Incarnate Word on Sunday, Findley gave a hard-fought match against Sarah Savendra in flight five, falling by identically narrow 7-5 scorelines. Timara Maxwell (pictured) also gave her opponent a tough match in flight six; UIW's Maria Batchinsky won by a score of 6-4, 6-4. Stacy Lackey fell in flight three to Victoria Kareh 7-5, 6-2.
 
The Lady Panthers open conference play this weekend, when they travel to Baton Rouge for the first of two SWAC Roundups.
