Summer vacation is the last thing on the minds of the PVAMU Department of Athletics as several noteworthy functions will take place this summer in preparation for the highly anticipated 2016-17 athletic year,
The department will be in place making its final push for season tickets at the 2016 Prairie View A&M National Alumni Association National Convention in San Antonio, Texas on July 20-24 at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk Hotel.
The PVAMU fall sports teams will return to campus in August and begin a busy month as four events are scheduled. NFL Hall of Famer and PVAMU football legend Kenny Houston will be honored during a scholarship reception on Friday, Aug. 19 inside the PVAMU Athletics Administration Building Panther Room. On Friday, Aug. 26, members of the
PVAMU Athletic Director's Club will be recognized during its inaugural kickoff reception inside the Panther Room. The event will also allow club members to tour the PVAMU Athletics Administration Building and a sneak peek at the brand new football stadium.Â
On Saturday, Aug. 27, the PVAMU Fan Fest will take place as fans will have an opportunity to meet the fall sports team members in addition to partake in a self-guided stadium tour along with a performance by the PVAMU Marching Storm and other artists.
Two days later on Monday, Aug. 29, the countdown to PVAMU history takes place as the Labor Day Classic Press Conference will be held on-campus as head coach
Willie Simmons will address the media in the Panther Room in addition to providing supporters another opportunity to view the facility. The annual Labor Day Classic Golf Tournament takes place on Friday, Sept. 2 at Southwyck Golf Club in Pearland, Texas while the Panther Room will buzz once again with the Athletic Director's VIP Dinner (Invitation Only) on Saturday, Sept. 3.
The events will commence on Sunday, Sept. 4 Â with the annual Labor Day Classic contest featuring PVAMU versus Texas Southern at 5 p.m. as it'll mark the first time PVAMU and TSU will play on campus in the brand new Panther Stadium,
