BATON ROUGE, La. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers volleyball staved off elimination with a come-from-behind, five-set win Friday over Alcorn State at the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

Scores of the match were 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, and 15-4.

MoKeysha Shanklin knocked down a career-high 21 kills for Prairie View A&M (9-24), who claimed their first win at the double-elimination conference tournament since 2013.

 After falling behind two sets to one, the Lady Panthers appeared to be in trouble when they fell behind 4-1 in the fourth set. However, momentum swung the other way when setter
Ana Kiso used the second hit of their portion of the rally to record a kill, which ignited a 4-1 run to re-tie the score at 5-5.

Prairie View A&M seized control of the set with a 6-1 run that gave the Lady Panthers a 17-11 lead. The momentum followed into the fifth set, as PVAMU scored 12 of the first 14 points.

Shanklin's 21 kills were the most by a Prairie View A&M player this season.
Jasmine Lewis added nine kills for the Lady Panthers, while
Calli Jordan Hensch knocked down eight kills.
Randi Hunter chipped in seven kills.

Kiso handed out 42 assists for Prairie View A&M, the second-highest mark she's reached this season. She had 47 in a five-set loss to Southern earlier this month, and had tallied 40 assists in a four-set win over Alcorn State in October.

Christen Augustine led the defensive effort with a career-high 17 digs. Kiso added nine digs, followed by
Paige Chuidian, who recorded eight digs.
