PRAIRIE VIEW – Prairie View A&M University placed more than 100 of its student-athletes on the Southwestern Athletic Conference's 2015-16 All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday.
A total of 119 Panther and Lady Panther athletes were placed on the All-Academic Team, which honors SWAC student-athletes who have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Student-athletes from all 18 of Prairie View A&M's sports earned All-Academic honors, and every team maintained cumulative GPAs above 2.5.
"We're proud of the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes and teams," Prairie View A&M University Athletic Director
Ashley Robinson said. "Championship success begins in the classroom, each student that competes for the University has contributed to this success. They have laid the foundation for greatness for Prairie View A&M University Athletics."
The men's and women's tennis teams each posted 3.45 GPAs to lead all Prairie View A&M squads. The softball team reached a cumulative 3.34 GPA, followed by the bowling (3.09), soccer (3.07), and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams (3.05).
