Soccer Takes On Huston Baptist Huskies

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Prairie View A&M University Lady Panthers soccer team are set to battle the Huskies of Houston Baptist on Friday 7 p.m. at Sorrels Field.

Unhappy with the way last week's 5-0 loss against Abilene Christian ended, Head Coach Abe Garcia reflected on how the team looks to learn from that experience as the non-conference season rolls forward.

"We started off pretty well for the first half," Coach Garcia said. "You can tell that our team is inexperienced. We gave up some simple mistakes that could have been avoided but overall we are learning from those mistakes and hopefully next game we will be better prepared for what is thrown at us."

Coach Garcia also expressed how important it is to him as a coach to see that even though his team was down in the game, they continued to fight until the final whistle.

"One of the main things I teach in my program is to never give," said Coach Garcia. "No matter what odds we are against we will continue to fight, so to see my team play all out for 90 minutes meant something to me as a coach."

Coach Garcia and the Lady Panthers continued their preparation this week with only one team on the radar, even though PVAMU will also be in action Sunday at Incarnate Word.

"Our main focus this week is Houston Baptist," Coach Garcia said. "We are not going to worry our record at the moment, any previous games or future games. Our job is to take it one game at a time and that's what we plan to do."

The Lady Panthers will take on Houston Baptist (1-5) which is coming off a loss a 1-4 loss last Sunday against Tulsa.
