WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Prairie View A&M University soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent Howard Sunday afternoon.
The tie with Howard, an affiliate member of the SWAC in soccer, extends the PVAMU unbeaten streak to five matches (3-0-2), tying the longest since winning five straight matches late in the 2014 season.
Prairie View A&M soccer is now 5-1-2 in its last eight matches, with four wins coming by shutout, and have outscored opponents 19-7 during that time.
After a scoreless first half, Howard scored first in the 61st minute. The Lady Panthers tied the match just five minutes later, as Diana Neff's third goal of the season tied the match.
Both teams had three shots apiece in the first overtime frame. Howard ended the game with 21 shots, while PVAMU posted a season high 14.
The Lady Panthers are now 5-8-2 on the season, 5-2-2 in SWAC play. Prairie View A&M will return home for the regular season finale Thursday, Oct. 26 against Texas Southern at 7 p.m. at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
Prairie View A&M will also host the SWAC Soccer Tournament Nov. 2-5 on The Hill.
