"This win was really amazing," exclaimed PVAMU's head volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler. "It's been so long since we got to the semifinals, I think it was back when I was a player. So it's really exciting and the girls played with so much discipline. Oh Wow! It feels so good."
Martinez hit .300 percent tying her season high of 17 kills. Freshman
Victoria Pearson provided 10 kills and hit for a .692 percentage with 13 total attacks and on error. She added four digs and two block assists in the win.
"I am so proud how the girls played," said Tyler. "We are peaking at the right time and there is no better time than now and here at the tournament. I am just lost for words right now."
Sommer Gonzales who has been out the last few games came in and handed out a season high of 21 assists, and seven digs. Libero of the Year
Christen Augustine led the back row with 12 digs for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady panthers hit .303 in the first set on the way to a 25-22 victory. PVAMU outlasted AAMU 26-24 in set two and in the third and final set the Lady Panthers took control with a commanding 10-2 lead never looking back to take the set 25-15 and the 3-0 sweep.
"The one thing that we have preached and we've done it all year is talked about no regrets," Tyler said. "I told them do not leave this game win or lost thinking and wishing that you had done something different. Every play, every ball take it to heart and they just played every set regardless of the mistakes. They were hungry and they were ready for it,"
